Information Systems are accessed by people across many organizations today. The importance of information systems spreads beyond the corporate boundaries in most cases as they connect entities such as customers and stakeholders. Network and Communication technologies are one of the enabling infrastructure which have contributed to the exponential growth of Information Systems within the last few decades. At a personal level, most of us are connected to multiple information systems on a 24 hour basis via devices such as smart phones today. 

This course aims to further the knowledge and skills related to the Internet and Local Area Networks (LANs) obtained by participants in their first year ITC 1340 Course. It provides the comprehensive knowledge related to the Internet and LANs as required by an IT Manager for a Small to Medium Scale Organization. The course initially focuses on setting up, configuring physical elements related to both wired and wireless LANs, and enabling sharing of data and physical resources in a LAN. The Secondary focus is on introducing network services commonly required and available in corporate environments such as Web, E-Mail, FTP, VOIP, Video Conferencing, Remote Desktop Access. The Tertiary focus is on introducing Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud Services and awareness of Datacenter operations, which are increasingly being used by many corporates. The chosen operating systems for this course are Windows 10 (personal computers) and Android (Tablets and Smartphones).
